Who the first person that was successful fly in the sky? Most of you would answer The Wright brothers. But, more than 1000 years before Wright brothers create an aircraft, Abbas ibn Firnas was successful fly in the sky.

Abbas ibn Firnas was success to
flying in the sky more than 10 minutes. Much longer than the flight of Wright
brothers 1 millenium later that 12 second.
Abbas ibn Firnas (810-887 A.D),
also known as Abbas Abu al-Qasim ibn Firnas ibn Wirdas al-Takuirini. Armen Firman may be Latinized name of
Abbas Ibn Firnas. He was born in Izn Ran Onda(Ronda, Spain). Lived in Umayyad Emirate of Cordoba, and is reputed
to have attempted flight.
In the years of 852, under the
government of Khalifah Abdurrahman II. Ibn Firnas decided to conduct a flight
experiment from Mezquita Mosque tower in
Cordoba using a sort of wing from wood propped cloak. The artificial wing
turned out to make him float while in the air and slow the fall. The tool used
by Ibn Firnas is then known as the first parachute.
In the years of 875, at the age of
65. Ibn Firnas create and designing a flying machine that capable of carrying
humans. After the final version has successfully created he deliberately invite
the Cordoban peoples to see the historic flight show at Jabal Al-A’rus(mount of the birde), Rusafa region, near Cordoba.
Altough experiments to fly using a
pair of wings from feathers and wood frame does not work perfectly, but the
innovate ideas of Ibn Firnas then studied by Roger Bacon 500 years after Firnas
putting the basic theories of the plane. Then,
about 200 years after Bacon(700 years after Ibn firnas Experiment), the
concept and theory developed aircraft.
